Playmaker Profile: MARKETLINK’s Jane Healy
Meet Jane Healy, a dynamic member of the MARKETLINK team whose versatility, dedication, and creativity shine in everything she does. From crafting winning proposals to her role as Communications Committee Chair for SMPS Utah, Jane embodies what it means to be a true Playmaker.
What’s your role at MARKETLINK, and what does your day-to-day look like?
My role at MARKETLINK has been evolving since the day I started. I do a little bit of everything, but I spend a lot of time drafting and editing proposals for multiple clients. I also manage project tasks, update marketing materials, and occasionally assist with social media and graphics.
What’s the “winning play” you’re most proud of in your career so far?
After taking time off to raise my kids, I re-entered the AEC marketing world, which had changed significantly. I’m proud I was able to step back in, adapt, and keep learning and growing despite the changes.
How did you get into the AEC industry, and what do you love most about it?
I was born into the industry! My dad founded a mechanical engineering firm, VBFA, where I started working as a kid, organizing blueprints and filing. Over time, I took on more roles, from runner to secretary to front office manager; eventually helping with marketing. I love the creativity and collaboration in the AEC industry.
Who has been your greatest coach or mentor?
Keri and the MARKETLINK team have been incredible mentors. They’ve encouraged me to take on challenges I didn’t think I could handle and taught me that I’m not an imposter in this industry—I belong here.
What’s your favorite “team moment” at MARKETLINK?
I love any opportunity we have to meet and collaborate in person. Since we all work remotely and usually meet virtually, those moments of face time reinforce our team connection.
How do you stay motivated when things get tough?
I make lists and find satisfaction in crossing tasks off. During this past (particularly busy) summer, I tracked proposal submissions using sticky-note lists on my physical desktop. I still use that system today! If I need a quick break, I grab a diet coke, listen to an audiobook, and reset.
If you weren’t working in the AEC industry, what would be your dream job?
I always dreamed of being a nurse. I became a CNA and planned to go to nursing school, but life took me in a different direction. It’s still a dream I hold onto.
What’s your favorite way to celebrate a big win?
A fountain diet coke and relaxing on the couch.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone starting out in the AEC industry?
Don’t limit yourself to one role or avoid tasks you think you won’t like. You might discover new strengths and passions in unexpected areas.
What’s something surprising about you that people might not know?
I have a cute little dog named Gus, after Burton Guster in Psych—one of my family’s favorite shows.
