Ramp Up Your Presentations Using Prezi
As a freelance marketing consultant, Jane Healy enjoys broadening her knowledge and honing her marketing skills to be more creative and productive. Looking for ways to transform presentations and bring bullet points to life, she discovered Prezi a few years ago while working as a marketing coordinator for an architecture firm. The capabilities of the web-based presentation platform impressed Jane, and now she regularly uses Prezi to create compelling and engaging content for interviews and presentations.
Prezi features three platforms: Prezi Present, Prezi Design, and Prezi Video. Prezi Present not only helps you organize your ideas and content with story blocks, but it also offers customizable designer templates. If you’ve got existing PowerPoint slides, you can upload them to Prezi Present and improve the content. A drag-and-drop editor makes Prezi Design a handy tool for creating graphics for presentations and much more. You can also create eye-catching infographics, maps, charts, social posts, and email headers, then publish them anywhere and in any size. Prezi Video works with video conferencing tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoToMeeting, and Google Meet to enhance their effectiveness. A marketer can drop in photos, video, and gifs to create a video that can be shared alongside the speaker.
Whether using a pre-existing template or a brand template for repeated use, Jane accesses a personal Prezi library from a central control panel called a dashboard. She can see all her previously created projects to create a new presentation or video. The Brand kit stores logos, fonts, and colors to customize templates to reflect the brand identity of a particular client.
Reusable Presentations
Looking for design inspiration? Browse the Prezi Gallery and pick a pre-existing template or make use of thousands of reusable presentations. It’s then a quick double click to get started. Jane enjoys the non-linear navigation and ability to collaborate and edit in real time. “I can choose when and where to zoom in and can organize my slides effortlessly while viewing the entire presentation and pathways at a glance,” she shares. Jane also takes advantage of all the options to enhance a regular presentation with animations, visual movement, and graphics.
Reusable Designs
Prezi is much more than an alternative to Powerpoint or PDF slideshow. You’ll find templates for social media posts, posters, dashboards, reports, infographics and even video recordings. After choosing a design, you can add and edit content in the Prezi editor. If you’re in need of an image to help a social media post stand out, tap the vast graphic library for ideas. Once the content is created, it’s easy to download and share and reuse your designs.
Resources
While Prezi is fairly user-friendly, there is a learning curve. Jane encourages new users to take advantage of easy-to-follow training videos and then spend time playing around with the free themes or templates and see where your creativity takes you. The free Basics version enables you to create and share up to five visual projects in Prezi Video and Design. Individual and business plans give you access to all three products and more tools (analytics, offline access, advanced training, remote presenting).
While there are options available for creating presentations, Jane believes Prezi is a better choice because it offers so many more tools for making presentations visually exciting. She also finds the online platform to be very versatile and easy to present via WiFi. And when the internet connection fails, the savvy and tested marketer can quickly download a presentation to her computer or convert it to a PDF.
