Current Apartments in Murray, Utah—Seven Stories of Expert Engineering

FOCUS provided structural engineering for Current Apartments, a podium-style complex with over 300 units and approximately 259,000 square feet of apartment space—and 118,000 square feet of parking space. This project presented some challenges, such as the steep grade of the site and large size of the building, which featured seven stories, including two post-tension concrete deck levels, one for the podium level and another for the upper parking garage. Overcoming these challenges required close coordination between the civil and structural engineers, the architect, the owners, and the general contractor, during both design and construction. Weekly meetings were held throughout the project’s design phase, which enabled FOCUS to come up with the most value engineered product possible, while meeting the design intentions of the architect and owners.
