Throgmorton Street is said to have received its name from Sir Nicholas Throckmorton or Throgmorton (c1515-1571)
He was eventually elected an Alderman in 1847 and went on to become the first Jewish Sheriff of London and Lord Mayor of London as well as one of the first two Jewish MPs
