The Council of War Size:XL: 120 x 80cm 20th November 1820 (1821)The Council of War, 1623 1624, (1893). The future King Charles I travelled to Spain in 1623 to arrange a marriage to the Infanta Maria Anna, daughter of Philip III of Spain. The trip was a disaster, with the Spanish insisting that Charles convert to Catholicism and remain in Spain for a year as conditions of the marriage going ahead.
