Germany, Imperial. A Busby Totenkopf Insignia consisting of a blue enamelled Romanian Cross with clusters of nine gilt rays in eac inscribed "ARTICLE 16 DU TRAITE(Totenkopf fr die Pelzmtze). Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse consisting of a jawless Danziger style Totenkopf, the reverse with two threaded screw posts, one of which retains an original nut, unmarked, measuring 108 mm (w) x 105 mm (h), demonstrating loss of silver finish throughout the base metal, an insignia most commonly affixed to a Hussar busby in very fine condition.
