A 1914 General Honour Medal For Merit With Swords, Silver Grade Archive reverse inscribed “Der Tapferkeit” (“For(Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen in Silber Dem Verdienste 1914 mit Schwerterspange). Instituted 25 June 1902 by Grand Duke Wilhelm Ernst. (1914 1918 issue). Constructed of silvered zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon with sword clasp, the obverse with a central leftward facing profile of Grand Duke Wilhelm Ernst, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of DEM VERDIENST 1914 (FOR MERIT 1914), within a
