USS 'Alabama', American battleship embroideress 7th August 1896USS 'Alabama', American battleship, 1898. An 'Illinois' class pre dreadnought battleship, 'Alabama' was launched in 1898. She served with the US North Atlantic Fleet and in 1907 sailed with the 'Great White Fleet' of battleships sent on a circumnavigation of the world by President Theodore Roosevelt to show off America's growing sea power.
