Constructed of silvered bronze, the obverse with a raised leftward facing profile of Grand Duke Carl Friedrich, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of DEM VERDIENSTE (FOR MERIT), within an oak leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 35. 53 mm in diameter, weighing 24. 2 grams, minor loss of finish evident, in overall better than very fine condition.
