Two piece construction in silvered bronze, white, black, and red enamels, with a band in the quadrants between the arms of the cross inscribed with Fr Verdienste im Feuerlschwesen (For Merit in Fire Fighting) in capitalised German lettering, the obverse with a white enamelled Greek cross bearing red enamelled flames on all arms of the cross with a central medallion bearing a mobile black enamelled
