Germany, Third Reich. A Kriegsmarine High Seas Fleet Badge by Richard Simm & Söhne, Variant #2 Hold Instituted September 19 1849(Flottenkriegsabzeichen). Constructed of gilded and silvered zink, the obverse consisting of an oval oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, topped by a Kriegsmarine eagle clutching a mobile swastika, surrounding a frontal depiction of a battleship cutting through waves, the reverse with a crimped ball hinge, a pointy vertical pinback, and a broad rightward opening catch soldered onto a plate, marked R.
