Constructed of silver, the obverse with a leftward facing profile of Duke Ernst I, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a royal crown topped by an inscription of DEM VERDIENSTE (FOR MERIT) inside of an oak wreath, the obverse maker marked HELFRICHT, measuring 23. 57 mm in diameter, weighing 8. 5 grams (inclusive of ribbon), in
