Earliest Tremy's Notched Dressmaker's Ruler with Handwritten Last Inches, 1920s diagram of earth strata I think it's pretty hardI love a ruler and actually hadn't seen one of these before, used by a tailor or dressmaker for marking hemlines, but certainly useful for marking many sorts of things. The printed measurements go to 12 inches but the ruler is 15, so the former owner of this one marked in the last few inches. The reverse shows it was made by Tremy's, patent pending at the time this one was produced; I've found a later version showing a patent date of 1926, so this one
