I think this old catcher's mitt is such a gorgeous sculptural object

which (with a 518 area code) appears still to be in use

There is a tiny hole on the rear of this one that suggests that could well have been the case

Head measures 1 3/4" wide x 2" tall x 1 5/8" deep

Sculptural Old Chip Carved Tramp Art Box color theory I think this old catcher'sI've gotten increasingly picky about tramp art pieces, whether frames or boxes or whatever, but this box pleases me very much, with an especially nice top view punctuated by brass tacks (they look to me like upholstery tacks) at center and corners. Nice scale, very sculptural, and in very good shape, with lid that lifts off and sits flush (not hinged.) Original stain, which looks more soft black from above and more reddish (varnished) from the sides.
