Sioux Native American Brown Pottery Vase by George Kills Pretty Enemy star pattern 15ʺW × 6At first I took this small vase with its terrific patterning as an Art Deco piece, but finally deciphered the signature on the bottom to realize it is by George Kills Pretty Enemy (Pte San Hoksila), a member of the Sioux tribe who worked at Sioux Pottery in Rapid City, South Dakota in the 1970s. I think the design executed in low relief and glazed a lighter brown is just terrific, making for an unusual and very special feeling little vase that feels
