with at least a good number of them definitely from a 19th c
and I find them completely joyful
but would guess it dates from the the 1930s or 40s

Brass Fable Button cauldron (I would guess a portraitI don't typically buy and sell buttons, but I found this one a month or two in a shop from which I was also buying some extraordinary early embroidered trim, and just liked it perhaps especially for the fable of the fox and crow it illustrates: a warning against being vulnerable to flattery, which seems particularly relevant these days and especially apt communicated via a shiny object!
