Churchill sent a letter to Salisbury resigning from office at the end of 1886
usually referred to as a 'polyp' was the subject of a major series of researches by the Swiss naturalist Abraham Trembley (1710-1784) whose work is cited in the letter accompanying this illustration
Designed by Sir Christopher Wren and built by his master mason Thomas Strong
St Bartholomew-by-the-Exchange met the same fate in 1840 when Threadneedle Street was widened
