executed on paper in what I think is a combination of oil paint maybe gouache too

especially the red

Found in Upstate New York, my guess is that with the faux tree stumps and knotty, grained wood decoration on the exterior, and newspaper photo inset into the underside of the lid is that is was made by a logger, who, I'd guess, was working at the the site pictured in the clipped and carefully framed photo. And, I would guess, like a spruce gum box, it was likely as a gift for a sweetheart back at home, with the silver
