I'm not sure the maker but surely 1950s-60s or so

it seems no great surprise to find a cryptic message handwritten on the underside of the base--"no evil or nasty brains in this head so don't abuse it

and the end of one leg shows a little loss too--but what remains is so good and so full of life I don't much care

SOLD Old Carved Burl Folk Art Wolf (?) Head with Bared Teeth special edition but who caresThose teeth! And on the inside of that mouth is old red paint. Ferocious, but empathetic too. Carved of burl wood, and with good age to it, really feeling as if it has always been here. 3" l x 1 5 16" w x 1 5 8" t. Very good condition. Looks like perhaps more recently the neck end was trimmed flush.
