I'm not entirely sure of its age or origins--it seems perhaps Eastern European to me

including I believe a ruled one--but there is no mark anywhere on this that I can find

The execution of the before and after is far from perfect

and I really can't imagine a simpler or more satisfying approach to fraction learning than these old handmade blocks

Happily, the back of the frame is papered over in newspaper, which is full of clues as to her creation, including mention of the investiture of a Rev. John Synott first thing, which, together with a few other clues, seems to date her to right around 1900 and to Hartford County, Connecticut. Such a great open face I think, even
