and came from a portfolio of watercolors--and looking at feels to me a bit like taking a deep breath

Every single thing included in the painting from the neatly tended red geranium to the Cupie doll statue bookend to the scruffy, homely little dog feels very specifically and deliberately chosen, adding up to a really warm and wonderful portrait of this kind, curious, and competent
