Nice Old 14 Inch Carved Whimsy Chain man with cap I know from the seller

I know from the seller that this old whimsy came from an amazing estate on Madeline Island in Lake Superior that had been built by two Norwegian brothers in 1905 and was filled to the brim with a lifetime collection of antiques

or a perfect holder for the Victorian calling/compliments cards I just listed

I'd guess this old cutout wooden stork head was once attached to a body and lived in a yard or garden somewhere

There is a fold at upper right and a bit of creasing along the bottom edge

Nice Old 14 Inch Carved Whimsy Chain man with cap I know from the sellerThis old whittled whimsy chain, carved from one piece of wood, has a lot of character, with squarish links that very much show the hand or blade, rather of its maker. I might hang this one on the wall from one nail at the center with the ends hanging down, as it feels like they want to rattle against each other, ideally in a very old, maybe haunted, house! 14" l x 13 16" w. There is one rough patch on one link, as pictured.
