Improved electrical machine at Teyler's Museum capture A woman dressed from headStudy of the augmented electrostatic generator with conducting rods shown demonstrating an electrical arc discharge. The original machine was designed by John Cuthbertson (bap. 1743 d. 1821) for Martin van Marum and installed at Teyler's Museum at Haarlem in the Netherlands.
