I just love the way its presumably young maker carried the patriotic theme through right down to mixing red and blue petals on the flowers

Signed Folk Art Carving of Pointing Hand boy in bed with a bit of weightI found this carving at an antiques shop in Maine, along with a carved spruce gum box listed separately, and have a bit of feeling that they were done by the same maker. The box held a deck of early 20th century alphabet cards, so I might guess that both this and the box date to around then, though I am not 100% sure. Carved into the underside of the base of the hand is what looks to be "MC11," perhaps the initials of the carver and the year 1911. In
