I had never found one of these old spinning toys until on a recent trip to Pennsylvania--where I found a pair
with this densely packed group of young swimmers seated in all different positions on the dock
Group of Three Pennsylvania Cut Cardboard Quilting Stencils wire and wood egg carrier I think perhaps because IThese are three hand cut cardboard quilting templates, used as patterns primarily for cutting fabric for piecing. (There are some gorgeous early examples of these cut of tin, which I covet but which have become very very precious.) I can't resist them when I come across them, and am inclined just to pin them directly to the wall; joyful things. I'd guess these date to the 1930s 40s or so. Found in Lancaster County PA, of course. Round: 6 1 2" d;
