Kid Drawings: Sailor, Umbrella, Big Doll, Skating - Sold Individually wooden cigar chest issued by Tonka in 1957SOLD: sailor; girl with umbrella These from a group of seven I purchased by the same young maker, done in the 1930s or so I believe. The handwritten titles are a good part of what I love about them, lending a sort of iconic aspect to the figures depicted, perfectly complimented by the color block watercoloring on three of the four. The fourth, crayoned, is my particular favorite, with this "big doll" about as empathetic and animate as a doll could be.
