Revolt at Pavia Size:Standard: 6 x 4in The first ever 1-2-3 finishRevolt at Pavia, Italy 7 Prairial, Year 4 (May 1796). Pavia was under the control of the Austrians until captured by Napoleon in 1796. On 23rd and 24th May 1796, 10,000 local people, led by their priest, revolted and surrounded the French garrison. Napoleon crushed the revolt and had the leaders shot, a fate shared by the French army captain of the garrison, who had surrendered to the rebels without a fight.
