I had at first taken this as an eagle

with the surface of the wood left as was to define the darker color of his vest

I always love examples of these with finely threaded, spindly ship masts, making them feel like intricate line drawings, too. With a carved lighthouse, painted black and red, behind the ship at the rear of the bottle. I will always find these miraculous things. 9 3 4" x 4" t x 2 3 8" d. Very good condition, c. 1930s 40s.
