Portrait of Joseph Bancroft Reade (1801-1870) Size:XL: 100 x 75cm Found in the collection ofHalf length portrait of Joseph Bancroft Reade seated in front of a table upon which rests a book with a clasp and upon a glass laboratory flask and lenses [?] held in Bancroft's left hand. What may be a quill held in the right hand is just visible at the lower edge of the photograph. Bancroft wears a dark suit and white shirt with cravat; a lens is worn by chain around his neck. Inscribed in pencil lower left 'The Rev. J. B. Reade FRS' and lower right
