Joseph Priestley's electrical machine hanged Keith Moon and Pete TownshendElectrical machine developed by Joseph Priestley to aid his study of electricity. To operate the machine, the handle is turned to make the glass globe rotate and rub against a fixed pad which produces an electrical charge. Priestley included instructions on how to build electrical machines in his book 'A Familiar Introduction to the Study of Electricity', so that others could reproduce his findings. 1768
