Diminutive Portrait of Lovely Young Woman in Rose on Tin in Repousse Frame carved decoration Constantinople (Istanbul)So many charming 19th c. portrait paintings of lovely ladies to admire, this young woman in rose and cream very finely painted on tin, though she looks as if she might might have as easily landed on the lid of a snuff box. Wonderful details, wonderful face, clearly posed and poised to delight. In what I believe is likely the frame where she has always lived, to which the tin is tacked in the corners by tiny tails, then backed by board. I believe 1840s
