1843 "Bread Book" iron mends Signed in syllabics with discI bought this one just for the cover, with Bread Book handwritten in dark graphite letters against thick brown paper, which is darkened by stains across half of it, perhaps from oil spilled while baking! it appears definitely to have been the log order book of a baker, as the handwritten lists inside are for cakes and pies and crackers and loaves of bread by the dozen. Dated 1843 with a mix of filled and blank pages and, as an object, quite teeming
