William Edward Forster, 19th century British industrialist and Liberal Party statesman Finish:Stretched prior to the PremierWilliam Edward Forster, 19th century British industrialist and Liberal Party statesman, (1900). Forster (1818 1886) was a Quaker and Liberal member of parliament. He helped his father distribute relief to the famine stricken population in Ireland in 1846, and Ireland was always one of his main concerns. He served as Under Secretary of State for the Colonies and as Vice president of the Council, with responsibility for education policy. Although
