The name TKA comes from the initials of the three original members Tony Ortiz, Louis "Kayel" Sharpe, and Angel "Love" Vasquez. Considered by many to be the "Kings of Freestyle" (though the group rejects this label, as "there are no 'kings' in Freestyle"), the group got their start in an East Harlem church in the early 1980s. From that church, they would go on to become one
