73rd Engineer Company Airborne River Rats Army Challenge Coin Department / Agency on 1 May 19871 1 2 inch Challenge Coin, circa 1980s. The 73rd Engineer Company was first constituted on 1 October 1933 in the Regular Army as the 73rd Engineer Company and activated on 1 August 1941 at Fort Lewis, Washington. It was reorganized and redesignated on 8 June 1942 as the 73rd Engineer Light Ponton Company. During the Second World War, the Company recieved streamers for 4 campaigns: American Theater (streamer without inscription), Asiatic Pacific
