Antique Islamic 15th Century Mamluk Qalamdan Gold Silver Inlaid Brass Pen Box Sold The jar of ovoid formA fine and important late 15th century Mamluk period inlaid pen box (Qalamdan), possibly Syria or Mosul, circa late 1400's. The slightly domed pen box is lavishly inlaid with gold and silver to both the exterior and interior, with bird motifs in a floral ground and gold geometric devices. The box having twin riveted hinges to the rear and a clasp to the front. A highly important museum quality 15th century pen box in very good condition. Similar boxes
